A Note From Someone Who's Been There...
Thank you so much for the critical role you played in getting our church involved with the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts. We are currently on a 6 week rotation where a group of a dozen or so leave every six weeks for a week along the Gulf Coast. Your experience in missions & respected leadership has motivated us to "roll up our sleeves" and offer ourselves to serve in this great effort.
If the heroes of 9/11 were the police and firefighters who responded, then the heroes of Katrina certainly are the churches who have banded together to share hope, joy, peace, and rejuvenation that comes through Jesus Christ. What a pleasure to serve alongside "family" like this. Thank you!
"When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?" The King will reply, "I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me" (Mt. 25:39-40).

What will we be doing? Simply Missions has partnerships with a couple of different organizations that have been assisting people in the Gulf Coast area since shortly after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005. Both or our partner organizations have assisted hundreds of families whose lives were devastated by the hurricane. Your team would be doing construction projects aimed at assisting families who could not otherwise get the work completed. In addition to manual labor, your team will build relationships the families you serve as well as with other volunteers, and you'll bring hope to those who have struggled through tremendous loss.
When can we go? Contact us to schedule a trip with your group.
How much does the trip cost? Approximately $300 + Airfare. Contact us for a custom quote.
Do I need a passport or visa? Not unless you are traveling from outside of the U.S.
How long is this trip? Generally our trips are 7-8 days, though teams can always choose to either extend or shorten their length of stay.
Where will we be? Project Recovery is based in Pass Christian, Mississippi, which is about 15 miles west of Biloxi. And Rebuild Lakeshore is based in Lakeshore Mississippi, which is about 40 minutes from Gulfport.
What's included in the cost? Everything you'll need once you arrive: food, lodging, tools & equipment, drinking water, building materials, and even supplemental health insurance!
What's not included in the cost? Airfare, passport (if needed), vaccinations, spending money, offering at church services, other ministry materials.
Where will we be staying? Your team could be housed at Camp Gospel, or at the Rebuild Lakeshore campus. Both facilities are equipped to handle large groups. Camp Gospel is a ministry that has been helping to rebuild the community through housing volunteers for four years. That facility can house 200 people per week. The camp is run strictly by donations and volunteers who donate their time to help others.

Is it safe? Yes. We take extra precautions and lay down strict ground rules to ensure safety. The primary concern for most teams is staying hydrated in the hot weather.
Who can go on this mission trip? Anyone you want to bring. We typically look for teams of 5 to 20 people. Simply Missions is different from other short-term mission agencies in that we want to work alongside you as a leader in developing both your skills and your team. We welcome you to include families with children, junior high, high school and college students, and adults of any age!
How do airline tickets work? We have arrangements with a couple of different travel agencies that specialize in group travel. Also, we can put you into direct contact with most airlines which offer a discounted rate for groups of 10 or more.
